When you upgrade to new version of Windows, the previous Windows installation files remain stored on the computer. Y'all can either setup your computer to automatically delete previous Windows installations or delete them manually.

When you upgrade from an older version of Windows (7/8) to Windows 10, your computer creates Windows.old folder and keeps the previous Windows installation files saved in this folder.

Windows.one-time folder is also created when you perform a clean installation of Windows 10 without formatting the drive containing Previous Windows installation.

ii. Delete Previous Windows Installations Using Disk Cleanup

1. Click on the Start button > blazon Disk Cleanup in the Search bar > correct-click on Disk Cleanup App and click on Run as Administrator.

ii. When prompted, enter your Admin Password and wait for Windows to calculate the amount of storage space that tin exist saved on your computer.

3. On the next screen, select Previous Windows Installations and click on OK.

You can as well delete the Previous Windows Installation files using Command Prompt.

1. Right-click on Start and click on Control Prompt (Admin).

2. On Command Prompt window, type RD /S /Q %SystemDrive%\windows.quondam and printing the Enter key on the Keyboard of your computer.

3. Expect, until the command is completed and you get to the next prompt.

Note: It usually takes a few minutes to complete this control. Do not close the Command prompt window until you go to the side by side prompt.
